Overview
Rotogravure printing is a high-speed, high-quality printing process used for producing large volumes of packaging, magazines, catalogs, and wallpapers. It uses a rotating cylindrical printing plate, where the image is engraved onto the surface of a metal cylinder. Ink fills the engraved cells, and excess ink is wiped off the surface, leaving ink only in the recessed areas. The substrate (usually paper, plastic, or foil) then comes into contact with the cylinder, transferring the inked image.
This technique is known for producing rich, consistent colors and fine image details, making it ideal for long-run printing with photographic-quality results.
